Institute of Informatics & Automation Problems of NAS RA

Institute for Informatics and Automation Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (IIAP NAS RA) was founded in 1957 and is one of the leading research institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia in the field of applied mathematics, informatics and computer technologies. IIAP NAS RA is responsible for operating the grid infrastructure in Armenia, which comes from international projects within the International Sciences and Technology Centre (ISTC) and Framework Programs (such as ISTC A-823, ISTC A-1451, ISTC A-1606, SEE-GRID-SCI) and state-funded projects. IIAP NAS RA carrying out programs for the integration of education and different branches of science. It organized courses for Master’s degree which aims to make qualified cadres for post-graduate studentship. The selected students continue their education in the post-graduate studentship in IIAP NAS RA.

The Institute for Informatics and Automation Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (IIAP NAS RA), as a responsible body for the Academic Scientific Research Computer Network of Armenia and Grid system IIAP NAS RA, has a huge experience and expertise in computer technologies application to science and technologies. In 2005 within the system of the International-Scientific Centre of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia was opened the computer department in IIAP NAS RA. Hence, apart from technical support IIAP NAS RA can also participate in the process of preparing new professionals or training the lecturers and students. A group of high qualified scientists is already involved in the teaching staff of the Computer centre. IIAP will be leader of work package 5 on dissemination.
