St. Andrew the First-Called Georgian University of the Patriarchate of Georgia (SANGU) has been functioning since 2008. It comprises the departments of Physics/mathematics and Computer sciences; Economics and Business; Humanities; Social Sciences and Law. The University has been set up as a scientific-educational center - a non-entrepreneur, non-commercial legal entity. It has close relations with foreign Universities and scientific centers. The aim of the University is to prepare highly qualified scientific and teaching personnel. The University trains students on all three levels of education –Bachelors, Masters and PhD. Academic staff of the University is of high qualification. Many of them have rich experience of participation in international projects. The work on creation and adoption of e-Learning courses is underway at the University; thus there is certain experience in this field.

St.Andrew the First-called Georgian University will participate in designing of strategic documents on development of teaching technologies and creation of regional centers of e-Learning/lifelong learning, including setting up of support groups at Universities of the region where the technologies of e-Learning are not yet introduced. It can take part in creation of national archives of educational modules and materials on e-Learning/lifelong learning. The University will coordinate teachers’ e-Training and prepare personnel on the regional scale. SANGU will take the responsibility of setting up and piloting of several teaching courses as well as carrying out of analysis and evaluation of obtained results. SANGU will be leader of work package 2 on the establishment of centers for e-learning/lifelong learning.
