TSU is the oldest and largest university in Georgia, founded very early in the last century. TSU is currently undergoing major reforms in accordance with Georgian Government priorities for Higher Education. The Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences is composed of 7 institutions, 200 academics, 24 Laboratories. TSU has a large experience in the implementation of International projects. TSU education has undergone profound restructuring to meet the Bologna process requirements. In 2005, TSU joined the Bologna Declaration with the other main Georgian universities following their lead. Around 27,000 students currently study at TSU. TSU has a strong IT department, runs intranet and internet facilities, has computer clusters and is able to provide the online support required for the e-learning, and virtual teaching. Making new simulative models, in Interdisciplinary Centers, of teaching Biomedicine using virtual methods, is one of the priorities of TSU.

TSU will employ fully its vast experience in the e-Learning domain to ensure the successful establishment of the Centre for e-learning/lifelong learning and in running the capacity building programme at the national level. TSU will play an important role in WP2, during which the establishment of the Centre will take place. It will take part in the capacity building process of its staff aiming at redesigning courses in a blended learning environment. Its main role in WP4 is to take the responsibility of redesigning 'English' which is a mandatory course for all students at all Georgian and Armenian universities, deploying a pilot experiment amongst its students and carrying out an assessment exercise to evaluate the outcomes of this phase.
